Beetle: 0
Yukon XL: -1
Brother was driving my Yukon and got rear ended by Beetle driver who wasn’t paying attention(and I think maybe driving a tad too fast). Luckily no one was injured. Truck was running at first but then wouldn’t restart so had to have it towed.

Damn, sorry for your truck! It doesn’t look bad, but it could be worse than it looks...if that bumper bolts to the frame and was pushed far enough, the frame could be bent :(

That’s what I’m afraid of. It wasn’t easy finding one of these with the barn doors at a reasonable price. sigh

Did the hit cause the fuel pump to fail early?

Maybe, but it wasn’t even attempting to start. Just clicking away like crazy. The battery had shifted and the terminal ends loose so I tightened them, but it made no difference.

Will do.

Some sort of safety thing that doesn’t let it start if it gets hit hard enough?

:( Beetle driver must not have been paying attention because they can’t have thought they’d win that competition.
Lookit all the poor old beetleguts...

Maybe. Tow truck driver thought the same.

That sucks, looks like your Yukon protected your brother pretty well, but if he feels the slightest pain he should go to a doctor just to be safe.
People in smaller cars really should be more attentive.
